Prof. Doutor Carlos Costa

Carlos J. Costa teaches in the Computer Science Department (DCTI) of ISCTE, since 1993. He also taught in the Portuguese Catholic University, Portuguese Open University, IPAM and ISCEM. Priviously he also worked in a IT consulting firm and in an Investment Bank. He holds a Ph.D. (Doutoramento) in Computer Science - Information Systems and Data Bases, ISCTE (2002), MsC (Mestrado) in Corporate Strategy, ISCTE (1995), Degree (Licenciatura) in Business Administration from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the Portuguese Catholic University - 1990.

Mestre Paulo Trezentos

Paulo Trezentos is lecturer at ISCTE (Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa) since 1999, teaching classes on "Operating Systems" and "Computer Architectures". As a researcher he articipated in several European RTD Projects such as OPIMA, OCTALIS and OCCAMM. He was also a participant in Global Grid Forum meetings and ESA projects (HICOD 2000). In 2000, he has been granted the Prémio Milénio 2000 Expresso, for the Linux Caixa Mágica project, a national wide prize for young researchers that awards the most promising project.

He is research director of Caixa Mágica where he leads the research team involved in FP7 project MANCOOSI.

Paulo Trezentos graduated from ISCTE in 1999. He got a MSc in Computer Science Engineering in IST, Technical University of Lisbon. He is author and co-author of 4 books about Linux and Open Source as well as numerous technical and dissemination articles (http://paulotrezentos.polo-sul.org/articles).



  

Prof. Doutor Mário Romão

Mário José Batista Romão is assistant professor at ISCTE (Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa) since 1984, lecturing subjects like "Project Management for IS/IT Projects", "Information Systems" and "Conceptual Modeling using UML".

He is responsible for the acceptance and coordination of Projects developed by final grade students of Computer Science, for the Software industry community/partners. He holds a PhD in Management Sciences by ISCTE and Computer Integrated Manufacturing at Cranfiel (UK).

He also holds a MsC in Telecommunications and Computer Sciences, at IST - Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon). He holds a degree in Electrotecnic Engineer by IST.



  

Prof. Doutor Carlos Serrão

Carlos Serrão is assistant professor at ISCTE (Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa). He was born in Lisbon in 1973. He concluded his BSc (5 years degree) in 1996, in Management and Computer Science, at ISCTE. Concluded his MSc in 2003, at ISCTE, with a specialization in Information Security (Information System Management). The thesis topic was "The importance of PKI for the Digital Content E-Commerce".

He currently teaches at ISCTE/DCTI, giving classes related to Information Security, Development and Management of Information Systems and IS/IT Project Management. He is a Project Manager and Consultant in R&D projects at Adetti in the Networks, Multimedia and Security Technology lab (NetMuST).

His main work topics are Information Security, PKI, Secure Access to Multimedia Content and Digital Rights Management. Currently he is working on its PhD, about the DRM platform Interoperability topic in cooperation with the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona.

He's been working on several national and international projects: ACTS AC051 OKAPI, ACTS AC242 OCTALIS, IST-1999-11443 OCCAMM, IST-2000-28646 PRIAM, IST-2001-34144 MOSES, FP6 IP MEDIANET, FP6 NoE E-Next, FP6 STREP WCAM, and European Space Agency project (HICOD2000). He's also the author and co-author of several papers in international conferences, journals and project deliverables. He also author's of several books on PHP. Prof. Luís Arriaga da Cunha (Univ. Évora / LNEC)

Holds a six year degree in Electronics Engineering, by Lisbon's Technical University (IST), 1970.

From 1970 to 1975 worked at the Laboratório de Física e Engenharia Nucleares (Nuclear Physics Laboratory).

Joined, in 1975, the Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC), Computer Science Dpt, where he was was responsible for the Database and Applications Group.

In 1981 became Auxiliary Research Officer in Computer Science after submitting and defending a thesis on computer science, in 1985 was promoted to Senior Research Officer and in 1992 became Principal Research Officer.

From 1993-1998 was Director and later Chairman of the Board of Directors of LNEC Informática SA, a private information technology company owned by LNEC.

Was Head of the Computer Dpt and Information Systems at several goverment agencies, namely DGTT (Portuguese National Agency for Land Transportation) 1998-2001, Instituto das Estradas de Portugal (Portuguese Road Authority) 2001-2003, Institute of Informatics, 2004-2005.

Invited Professor, at the University of Évora, Computer Science Dpt, since 1998.

Appointed, in February 2006, Director of the new Information Technology Research Centre at the University of Évora
Appointed, in September 2007, Head of the Information Techonology Department of LNEC.

Has, as main areas of scientific activity/interest: Databases, Free and Open Source Software, Object Oriented Analysis and Design of Information Systems, Integration and Interoperability of Information Systems, Distributed Systems Architecture.

Mestre Mário Valente

Mário Valente was CIO for the Portuguese Ministry of Justice from 2005 to 2008. He also is an assistant professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa since 2003.

He concluded his BSc in Computer Science at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa in 1993, and also holds a MBA from Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
